Sara is a writer of books and essays. Her children’s book, Lights, Camera, Fashion, garnered an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal Award and Parents’ Choice Silver Honor, among other awards. Her essays and articles have been published by Feminine Collective, Godspacelight, Neufeld Institute, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and Seattle Neufeld Community. Previously Sara led one of the largest chapters of the SCBWI, where she was recognized as 2009 SCBWI Member of the Year.
Sara is principal and creative director of Sara Easterly & Friends, a publicity and event planning business. In this capacity, she has worked with a variety of large organizations such as Wizards of the Coast and T-Mobile, along with a number of authors that include Newbery Honor Medalist Kirby Larson and New York Times best-selling authors R.A. Salvatore and Bonny Becker. Sara also supports the Neufeld Institute, directing its annual conference.
Sara is the founder of Book Bonding, where she reviews heart-led kids’ books that help deepen the bonds between parents and their children. She regularly presents at parenting conferences and classes, where she gives children's literature recommendations to parents. Additionally, Sara volunteers at her daughters' elementary school library.
Sara is a Motherhood Maven, as mom to two tenacious daughters and daughter of two amazing moms –
both her adoptive mom and her birth mother. A graduate of the Neufeld Institute course facilitator program, Sara is dedicated to helping her children reach their full developmental potential. She supports other parents in their journeys by publishing essays on motherhood, reviewing kids’ books, presenting at parent groups, and facilitating Dr. Gordon Neufeld's Making Sense of Preschoolers course.
