MEET SARA
I’m an adoptee. I’m a mother to two teen daughters. And I’m a writer of books and essays.
I am also a reading aficionado, and hold a special place in my heart for children’s literature. I’ve studied child development from an attachment perspective and am a trained course facilitator with the Neufeld Institute. I’ve worked as an author publicist and event planner, and in corporate advertising and marketing.
I love animals and care for a menagerie of rescued fur-babies that currently include dogs, indoor bunnies, and guinea pigs. In my free time I practice horse showmanship (a.k.a. informal equine therapy).
Supporting my fellow adoptees and their families is deeply important to me. I’m the founder of Adoptee Voices, co-host of the Adoption Unfiltered podcast, and founder of the Faith Collective for Truth and Healing in Adoption. I regularly write and speak about adoption.
My adoption-focused books include a spiritual memoir, Searching for Mom (Heart Voices, 2019), and Adoption Unfiltered (Rowman & Littlefield, 2024), co-authored with Kelsey Vander Vliet Ranyard (birth parent) and Lori Holden (adoptive parent).
